Dublin Sculpture Tour

Discover the history of Dublin's most prominent public sculptures from Molly Malone to Daniel O'Connell, Jim Larkin to Nelson's Column. 

Learn how many bullets hit the pacifist Daniel O'Connell during the 1916 Rising, the fascinating story behind  Fr. Pat Noise and read the final words of Michael Joseph O'Rahilly as he lay dying in a Dublin laneway.

This two hour tour will focus on the themes of Rebellion, Remembrance and Reconciliation. On this tour, we will discuss the works of John Henry Foley, Oisín Kelly and John and Edward Smyth, to name just a few.

  • Erin Go Bragh - 'Ireland Forever' - Slogan of the United Irishmen.

  • Pat Noise Memorial Plaque - One of the strangest and most beloved stories of Dublin and also the sight of Dublin's ill fated Millennium Clock.

  • Daniel O'Connell Monument - O'Connell gives his name to Dublin's capital Street. A dedicated pacifist his whole life, his statue is covered the bullets of revolution from 1916.

  • Jim Larkin - Socialist and founder of the Irish Transport and General Workers Union, Larkin led the workers of Dublin against their employers in the winter of 1913.

  • Cú Chulainn - The Ancient Irish Hero who died tied to a rock later became a symbol of the failed uprising of 1916.

  • The Millennium Spire of Light - Love it or hate it, discover the story behind Dublin's "Pole in the Hole".

  • The O'Rahilly's Final Words - The dying words of a national hero written to his wife in his final moments, today those words are a permanent fixture at the place of his death.

  • Children of Lír - Oisín Kelly's masterpiece of the ancient Irish legend and made in memorial to those who fought for Irish freedom.
